Ristorante Grotto Broggini

We have been exploring different restaurants in the area, and this is definitely going on our list to frequent often. The slow cooked rotisserie chicken is amazing! The ribs are to die for! They also have a combo meat plate that we saw at another table that looked amazing! Our waiter was very nice and polite. The restaurant always seems to be busy, so you may want to make reservations.

My first time to have a dinner at this place after suggested by some friends. We had some drinks, food and dessert. All pretty good, I was just bit disappointed that my dish was a bit dry, since it was a bit of a artisan polenta I thought to have more sauce. The rest was good, probably would be nice to promote local or swiss water rather than san Pellegrino which isn't local.

We went for new year eve with family and friends. The decorations of the restaurant inside and outside are really nice really liked it. I think in summer is really nice to eat outside on the benches. They gifted a glass of Franciacorta. Speaking of the food: I took with my friend Bruschetta with Pomodoro and it was good for being a grotto. Cause I’m from Italy and not all the restaurants can do a good Bruschetta. My family took a soup and it tasted really good (it was off menu). As main I took sminuzzato with pappardelle and the sauce with mushrooms was so good I really enjoyed it, I found only that it was a little bit too salty but it was good and the meat too. My friend took a half chicken with sauce and fries and it’s was so soft and tasty (it’s their speciality). Desserts were really good too even ice cream. I would say totally was a really nice and tasty experience. They were really fast to deliver the dishes. Just one thing: a bottle of water for 9 CHF it’s really a lot, we’re not in Zürich.

Grotto Broggini near Ascona is a must-visit for its delicious food, welcoming service, and a setting that feels made for summer evenings. As you arrive, the smell of charcoal from the wood-fired grills already promises a great dinner, and the big outdoor garden shaded by old trees sets the mood perfectly. Families feel especially at home here, with a playground right next to the seating area so kids can play while parents relax. The grilled seafood was a standout, but every dish we shared—grilled chicken, meat plates, saffron rice, and polenta with beef—was excellent and full of authentic Ticino flavor. Portions are generous, service is warm and attentive, and the lively yet laid-back atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy. Parking is nearby and it’s best to reserve ahead, especially for weekends when the grotto is buzzing. A rustic, family-friendly grotto with outstanding food, a garden full of atmosphere, and that unmistakable scent of charcoal that greets you on arrival—highly recommended.

Nicest lunch we had in Locarno area. Was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed a nice lunch in their outdoor dining space. There is a playground, and very kid friendly. Food was good, and especially the mushroom risotto and the grilled chicken. Only downside is the amount of smokers (which makes it questionable how kid friendly)... Nobody wants their kids inhaling second hand smoke.

I've hardly ever seen staff work so tirelessly and hard as here. Despite being full, we got served very fast and with lots of care. Especially for children, this is a good place to visit. The chicken was succulent and delicious, as well as the incredible mushroom risotto. The fries are excellent and their bread... Wow! An absolutely amazing dining experience and I hope they continue to do well!

Excellent food and service. Everything came out very fast and was delicious. Was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. They also speak English and can communicate well with tourists! Ravioli and Saffron risotto were amazing, and so were the desserts!!
